What is the Enhanced ACT?

The 2025 ACT format: a shorter test with 50 English, 45 Math, and 36 Reading questions, four choices per Math question, and an optional Science section.

How long is the ACT?

About two hours without the optional Science section, and roughly two hours and forty minutes with it.

What is a good ACT score?

Composites run 1 to 36, and the national average sits around 19 or 20. A 30 or higher is competitive at selective universities, and a 34 or higher is elite.

When are ACT test dates and how do you register?

The ACT is offered monthly through the school year, registration runs through act.org, and the PrepSavvy test center directory shows where each exam is offered.

How does ACT scoring work?

Each section scores 1 to 36, and your composite is the average of English, Math, Reading, and Science. You never need an ACT score calculator, because the composite is a plain average and wrong answers never count against you.

How long should I study for the ACT?

Most students need two to three months of consistent work, and a practice test at the start shows which sections cost you the most composite points.

Is the ACT Science section optional?

On the Enhanced ACT, yes. Whether you should take it depends on your target schools, so check each program’s requirement before you skip it.
