How long is the GRE?

The GRE General Test takes just under two hours: two Quantitative Reasoning sections, two Verbal Reasoning sections, and one Analytical Writing task.

What is a good GRE score?

Scores run 260 to 340. A combined 320 or higher is competitive at most graduate programs, and top quant programs expect a Quant score in the high 160s.

How does GRE scoring work?

Verbal and Quantitative each score 130 to 170, for a 260 to 340 total. Analytical Writing scores 0 to 6 in half-point steps.

How many times can you take the GRE?

Once every 21 days, up to five times in any rolling 12-month period.

Is there a calculator on the GRE?

Yes. The GRE provides an on-screen calculator for the Quantitative Reasoning sections.

How long should I study for the GRE?

Plan on two to three months. Take a full-length practice test first so your study time goes to the sections that need it.
