Application timeline overview
For August 2027 entry, the application deadlines are September 9, 2026 (Round 1), January 5, 2027 (Round 2), and March 29, 2027 (Round 3), each at 12:00 PM Eastern Time. Final decisions are released on December 14, 2026, March 24, 2027, and May 12, 2027. For January 2027 entry, the application is closed; its deadlines were June 17, 2026, August 13, 2026, and September 1, 2026 (Round 2 Extended), with rolling review within each round. Columbia does not offer Early Decision; its FAQ encourages candidates who would previously have applied Early Decision to apply in Round 1. Students entering in August 2027 begin with mandatory orientation in the second half of August, and regular classes begin in September.

Round rules
An application must be completed by 12:00 PM Eastern Time on the deadline date, including the recommendation and application fee. An application not completed by the deadline is rolled into the next available round in the current cycle. Priority consideration for institutional funding requires a completed application by the Round 1 or Round 2 deadline. August Round 1 admits submit a US$6,000 first deposit.
