Exam questions

How long is the GMAT Focus Edition?

The GMAT Focus Edition takes 2 hours and 15 minutes: three 45-minute sections (Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights) with an optional 10-minute break.

What is a good GMAT score?

Scores run from 205 to 805, and the average total sits around 550. A 645 lands in roughly the top 10 to 15 percent of test takers, and 705 or higher is elite territory for the most selective MBA programs.

How does GMAT scoring work?

Each section scores 60 to 90 and your total runs 205 to 805. Data Insights carries the same weight as Quantitative and Verbal on the Focus Edition.

How many times can you take the GMAT?

Up to five times in a rolling 12-month period, with at least 16 days between attempts and no lifetime limit.

How long should I study for the GMAT?

Most test takers need two to three months of consistent work. A full-length practice test early in your prep tells you exactly how much ground you have to cover.

Is there a calculator on the GMAT?

Only on the Data Insights section. Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning are no-calculator sections, which is why mental math speed matters.
