Things to Know Before Applying to London Business School
Programme rules and fees for the LBS MBA that applicants often miss, from the school's published pages.
Programme rules
- The MBA has exit points at 15, 18 or 21 months; to exit you must complete 10 electives and the Global Experience.
- Students who go on international exchange cannot exit at 15 months, and an early exit may limit your choice of electives.
- Terms run Autumn (August to December), Spring (January to March) and Summer (April to July), with exams throughout the first year, some on weekends.
- Applicants who already hold a Masters in Management can apply to the 11-month One-year MBA instead.
Fees and payments
- Tuition for the 2026 MBA intake is £123,950 and does not change with your exit point.
- A £400 Student Association Fee is added; programme travel, including Global Experiences, is extra.
- After an offer you pay a £3,500 commitment fee within approximately one month and a £6,500 reservation fee at the end of May; both are non-refundable and deducted from tuition.
- Fees are the same for international and domestic students, and tuition can be paid in instalments at the start of each term.
Testing and application
- The minimum GMAT score LBS accepts is usually around 555; the stated average is around 645 (GMAT Focus scale).
- LBS prefers GRE scores over 160 in verbal and quantitative, and notes that some employers may ask for a GMAT score.
- The Admissions Committee may ask you to retake the GMAT or GRE before making an offer.
- AI tools may be used to check and edit essays if disclosed; they are not permitted in the interview or the video submission.
- Interviews are run by alumni or senior admissions staff, usually in your region.
