Kellogg MBA Interview: Format, Timing and Preparation

How the Kellogg Full-Time MBA interview works, from Kellogg's application instructions and its admissions blog.

Interview format

Kellogg interviews Full-Time MBA applicants by invitation, and all interviews are virtual. Applicants receive an email about interview status and scheduling. Invitations are sent on a rolling basis throughout the evaluation period up until decision release, and Kellogg states that the timing of an interview is not an indication of a candidate's status. Interview times cannot be changed once scheduled. Kellogg says the interview lets the admissions committee evaluate interpersonal and communication skills, career focus and motivations for pursuing a Kellogg MBA.

Resume-based and behavioral

In a 2021 admissions blog post, Kellogg's associate director of admissions wrote that all interviews are based on the resume alone and that the interviewer has not read the application. The same post describes the interviews as behavioral-based, suggests practicing the STAR method and preparing a range of stories beyond those in the essays, and says the interview is one component of a holistic review.

After the interview

Decisions are released on fixed dates for each round: December 9, 2026 for Round 1, March 24, 2027 for Round 2 and May 12, 2027 for Round 3. After submitting, applicants can add employment changes, new grades or new test scores on the supplemental information page of the application.
