Yale SOM MBA Interview: Format and Timing

Interview format

Interviews are offered by invitation on a rolling basis throughout each round. Every applicant offered admission has had an interview. The interview lasts 30 minutes and is conducted by a current second-year student, a recent alum, or an Admissions Committee member. It is blind: the interviewer sees only your resume. Questions are largely behavioral and also cover your MBA and post-MBA plans.

Timing

Invitations are sent by email on a rolling basis throughout the round, and may come as late as the decision date. Yale SOM states that the timing of an invitation has no bearing on the outcome. An applicant can be waitlisted without an interview and then invited to interview in a later round.

After the interview

Decisions are released on fixed dates: Round 1 on December 3, 2026, Round 2 on March 18, 2027, and Round 3 on May 13, 2027.
