Things to Know Before Applying to Ross School of Business
Policies and facts about the Michigan Ross Full-Time MBA that applicants often miss.
What nobody tells you
Ross accepts the GMAT, GRE, or Executive Assessment, or a Statement of Quantitative Academic Readiness in lieu of a test score; MCAT, LSAT, PCAT, DAT, and OAT scores can be submitted inside that statement. The 2026-2027 cycle has three rounds, and no applications are accepted after the Round 3 deadline of March 29, 2027. Ross requires one recommendation, using the GMAC Common Recommendation Form.
Culture and teaching method
All first-year MBAs take MAP (Multidisciplinary Action Projects), spending the second half of the winter term on a seven-week, full-time consulting project with a company. Students choose from more than 75 projects, and 40% of MAP projects are with companies outside the United States. Classes run Monday through Thursday.
Who thrives here
Class of 2027 at a glance
The Class of 2027 has a mean classic GMAT of 731 (GMAT Focus mean 681), a mean GPA of 3.43, and an average of 5.8 years of work experience. 40% are international, 39% are women, 25% are underrepresented minorities, 15% have U.S. military backgrounds, and 22% are first-generation college students.
Common mistakes applicants make
- Submitting both a test score and the Statement of Quantitative Academic Readiness. Ross takes one or the other, not both.
- Expecting Ross to combine section scores from different test dates. Ross uses your highest total score and its own section scores.
- Missing a deadline. A late application moves to the next round, and none are accepted after the Round 3 deadline.
- Counting on a deferral. Ross considers deferral requests case by case and rarely grants them.
- Reapplying after more than one year with an abridged application. The abridged option covers only applicants from the previous cycle.
- Paying the fee without checking waivers. Attending one Ross Full-Time MBA event before applying qualifies for a waiver.
