Things to Know Before Applying to Stanford Graduate School of Business
Stanford GSB MBA policies and numbers applicants often miss.
What nobody tells you
Stanford GSB does not publish an acceptance rate; the Class of 2027 enrolled 434 students from 7,259 applicants. The school publishes a GMAT range: 540 to 780 on the classic GMAT and 615 to 785 on GMAT Focus for the Class of 2027. 44% of that class submitted the GRE. Interviews are structured behavioral interviews with alumni or admissions staff, and Stanford interviews two to three candidates per seat. Deferral is possible only through deferred enrollment for college seniors and direct-entry graduate students.
Application rules
You may apply once per year, in one of three rounds. Work experience is not required. The resume is limited to one page unless you have a compelling reason such as more than 10 years of work experience. One recommendation must come from your current direct supervisor or the next best alternative. Having another person or tool write your essays violates the application terms.
