Things to Know Before Applying to UC Berkeley Haas School of Business

Verified facts about the UC Berkeley Haas full-time MBA for 2026-27 applicants.

Facts applicants often miss

Haas does not publish an acceptance rate. The full-time MBA requires a GMAT or GRE score with no test waiver. Interviews are by invitation only and required for an offer of admission; they are offered as a prerecorded video or as a live remote interview with a current student or alum. Tuition differs by residency: estimated 2026-27 nonresident tuition and fees ($92,755) include $12,245 of nonresident supplemental tuition not charged to California residents ($80,510). Haas notes that many U.S. citizens and permanent residents may qualify for California residency by their second year. Deferrals are very uncommon.

Culture and curriculum

Haas defines its culture by four Defining Leadership Principles: Question the Status Quo, Confidence Without Attitude, Students Always, and Beyond Yourself. Its admissions page lists these principles as the personal qualities it looks for. The full-time MBA has a required core curriculum, and students tailor the majority of their remaining studies through electives. Haas, founded in 1898, describes itself as the second oldest business school in the US and the first at a public university. Besides the MBA programs, it offers a Master of Financial Engineering and a PhD.
